Job Opportunity - Associate Pastor

The Associate Pastor will serve as a key member of the pastoral leadership team, helping to cultivate a healthy church culture, develop leaders, support and strengthen Next Generation ministries, and contribute to preaching and teaching ministries. This individual will work closely with the Lead Pastor, Elders, ministry leaders, and volunteers to foster spiritual growth, discipleship, and mission throughout the congregation.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Champion the Mission, Vision, and Culture of Bethel
Model and promote Bethel's vision of being a welcoming family of Jesus followers who are joyfully obedient, blessing others, and sharing Jesus.
Help create a culture where people are known, valued, discipled, and encouraged to participate in God's mission.
Build relationships throughout the congregation and community, helping people connect, belong, and grow in their faith.
Encourage and equip the church to be a blessing within New Dundee, surrounding communities, and the places where our congregation lives, works, and serves.
2. Leadership Development and Discipleship
Identify, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the church.
Equip volunteers and ministry leaders through coaching, encouragement, training, and accountability.
Help strengthen pathways for spiritual growth and discipleship across all ages and stages of life.
Foster a culture where every believer is encouraged to discover and use their gifts in service to Christ and His Church.
3. Next Generation Ministry Support
Provide pastoral oversight, encouragement, and leadership support to children's, youth, and family ministries.
Work alongside ministry leaders and volunteers to ensure these ministries align with Bethel's mission, values, and discipleship goals.
Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and development within Next Generation ministries.
Build meaningful relationships with children, youth, parents, and families, supporting their spiritual growth and connection to the broader church family.
4. Preaching and Teaching
Partner with the Lead Pastor in planning and developing sermon series and teaching initiatives.
Participate regularly in the preaching ministry of the church.
Communicate biblical truth in ways that are clear, relevant, engaging, and faithful to Scripture.
5. Pastoral Leadership and Congregational Care
Serve as a visible and approachable pastoral presence within the life of the church.
Assist with pastoral care responsibilities, including visitation, encouragement, prayer, and support during significant life events.
Participate in Elder meetings and leadership discussions, offering spiritual insight, discernment, and collaborative leadership.
Help maintain healthy communication and unity throughout the congregation.

2. Ministry Skills and Experience
Experience in pastoral ministry, church leadership, or a related ministry context.
Demonstrated ability to equip and develop volunteers and ministry leaders.
Strong interpersonal and relational skills.
Effective communication, teaching, and preaching abilities.
Experience working with children, youth, families, or volunteer-based ministries is an asset.
3. Education and Credentials
Appropriate theological training and ministry preparation.
Credentialed with, or willing to pursue credentialing through, the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada.
